The Evelina Resolution Project
The Evelina Resolution Project was launched in 2013 at the Evelina
London Children’s Hospital, one of the UK’s leading children’s
hospitals.

The Evelina Resolution Project was launched in 2013 at the Evelina London Children’s Hospital, one of the UK’s leading children’s hospitals.
It was the first conflict management program in an NHS children’s hospital. Designed to support health professionals and families when conflicts arose, this pioneering program was initially funded by the Guy’s and St Thomas’s charity but has been core funded by the Evelina London since 2015. It has since gained international recognition and in 2018, won Mediation Program of the Year in the National Mediation Awards.
The program provides training in recognising and managing conflict to multi-disciplinary teams of healthcare providers and mediation to resolve disagreements about care and treatment. Of a cohort of 313 staff followed up six months after completing the training, 91% of those who had experienced conflict with a family reported that the training had helped to de-escalate it ; 95% said that it had helped them to recognise the triggers for conflict. The experience and research gained from the Evelina Project has formed the foundation from which all of our work at MMF has developed.
